Creating to slow down
Journeys are the whole premise of life, from big travels to the journey to the shop at the end of your road. When life seems to be passing by in a blink I try to remember to slow down and being creative has really helped this.
Being very intent and observant as I journey is something I always want to try to experience and capture, it can bring the beauty to even the most menial of trips and in a world where there are so many distractions, life can become overwhelming and you can miss so many beautiful details daily.
By slowing down and honing my observational skills not only will I develop my artwork but also my outlook on life. Sometimes even in such wonderful landscapes I can become overwhelmed which is why I focus on working on a small scale, a slither of the landscape can represent so much.
I’m sometimes very guilty of getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and it can really pass by in a flash but since I’ve got back into sketch booking and been more intentional with actually carrying it around I’ve noticed how much there is to see. When I sit and stop to properly look you get a very different perspective.
