Argonaut Books x Eve Tong

Earlier this year I put a little call out on my socials to see if there were any Edinburgh businesses who fancied hosting my vending machine for a few weeks. It felt sad to have her unused in my studio.

Argonauts books were the first to say yes and I am so pleased to say it’s had a very successful week in the bookshop at the bottom of Leith Walk, Edinburgh! There is nothing I love more than an independent bizz, so I was super pleased to collab with these guys!

Adam, who owns the bookshop let me have free reign on the illustrations so I headed down one day to soak in the bookshop, get some inspiration, sketch and have a pot of tea! If you haven’t been down it’s a must, the environment is so warming, friendly and they have a massive range of books available!

I really love sketching on location, so sketched and thumb nailed some designs to illustrate in the studio.

I came up with 6 bookish prints, one had to be the exterior of the shop, two others are corners of the bookshop which I loved, one highlighted the little cafe within the shop and the other two were sweet little doodles I developed!

I have been absolutely blown away by the positive response since having her in the bookshop, it has REALLY shocked me how many people have been down to have a go. I had no idea how many prints to produce but it has sold out twice, when I got the call the second time round I nearly fell over! She will be there until Monday 23rd of Feb

Having this machine is so much more than a little novelty, I love connecting with local businesses because I think they’re what make Edinburgh so special!
