First Solo Exhibition
Little Landscapes is currently up at Red Kite Cafe, Edinburgh!
2026 has already been so full of exciting things but this may potentially be my proudest moment for a while. I had been wanting to look into having a solo exhibition for a while and when I was approached to have one at a cafe just round the corner from my studio it was meant to be!
As my work is so miniature most of the time over the past couple years my collection of original paintings have unfortunately been hiding out safely in a desk drawer!
Absolutely not where I want them to be, I want them to be seen, celebrated and enjoyed! So when I got the opportunity to have free reign on the cafe walls, I jumped.
I had a vague plan/idea of how I wanted it to look, building little groups and collections of paintings that I think work well together to sit in the space without being swamped by the big white walls. I was slightly concerned that the scale of my work would look silly up on such big walls so I think the way I grouped and broke sections up really helped!
Little landscapaes is composed of work from the last 2 years, focusing on my love of Scottish landscapes but also my love of experimenting. Throughout the exhibition I showcase different techniques and mediums… from very detailed miniature watercolour paintings to collage, to printmaking and more expressive painting.
For me it was a chance to reflect and see how much I have grown and achieved in the last few years, being an artist can sometimes feel like you never stop moving and making so it was really nice to have a moment to stop and see a large collection of my work all at once.
Thankfully I have great friends who know how to hang exhibitions and helped put it up whilst I flapped about being indecisive and demanding all at the same time…
It was up and I was so happy with how it looked in the room!
I had decided to have a little opening to celebrate the day after, I was nervous but excited- what if no one showed up, what if lots of people showed up… either way it was a step outside of my comfort zone! But it was a super lovely evening, with lots of supportive friends popping in to say hi and have a look. Or to eat the canapes….
Dating a very talented chef has it perks and Doug whipped up some wonderful canapes to have and man they were good!
The team at Red Kite have been so supportive and lovely, it’s a wonderful cafe, super friendly with great coffee and great cakes… if you get the chance pop along and have a look. It’s up until the end of April 2026!
